the Gathered Church
WHAT TO EXPECT
Everyone is welcome to join us on Sundays. We are a mixture of young and old. The thing that unites us is that we are all sinners and need Jesus. There is no dress code at the church. Most people do not "dress-up" to come to church.
On Sundays we have two services.
The 9am is a traditional service that follows either the Book of Common Prayer or Common worship. This is either in traditional language or modern language following a set pattern. The service includes traditional hymns.
The service lasts 50minutes.
The 10.30am service is informal and contemporary in style. The clergy do not wear robes. The service will usually have a block of songs to help us enter God's presence. There is a reading from the Bible followed by a talk. The talk lasts about 20 minutes. The talk is followed by a chance to respond in prayer. The children and young people have their own activities.
It is normally a service of Holy Communion, and so the service will move into the set prayers of the Church of England.
There are always opportunities to pray for healing at St Laurence Church services. It may be after or during the service.
On the first Sunday of the month the 10.30am service is all-age and will not normally be a communion service.
We do not take up an offering at our services. If you would like to make a financial contribution to the church then there is a giving plate at the back of the church.
